My Flat Tire

 

Sitting in my car, I will drive him home.

Sitting in my car, I have a flat tire

and I am weeping.

 

I call to ask him, can you help me?

I call to ask him, are you there for me?

And he comes.

 

I watch his back as he pumps for me

He fills my tire and allows me to come home

I sit on the sidewalk, meanwhile, destitute.

 

He finishes. 

 

I am happy, I give him a kiss.

I am happy, I say, “I love you”,

for the first and last time.
